The environment of this social housing operation is made up of low-rise buildings and towers, typical of the 1960s, most of which are of good quality. Our building does not try to distinguish itself from this context. Concerned with the social issue, it wants to make the most of its urban and financial conditions. It occupies the whole surface of the plot without any setback or articulation, in order to make the most of the constructability and to gain interior surfaces.
Each architectural expression on the facade corresponds to an advantage in terms of use for the dwellings : balconies, window boxes, terraces, canopies, exterior lighting... The building is monochrome white. It has a uniformly bright appearance. The ratio of openings in the façade is important (45%). All the dwellings opens on the east and the west or benefit from several orientations. All the units have a balcony or terrace.
Thirty units have an additional room, with a surface area of 7 m². This additional space did not increase in the construction costs ; it has been made possible by simplifying the geometry of the building. The additional room increases the standard surface by 10% to 15%. It is placed in the extension of the living room and adjacent to the kitchen. The tenant has the option of opening the partition wall between the additional room and the kitchen to benefit from a single surface of 18 m².
The elevator shafts distribute two apartments per level, the landings are almost private. The ground floor units each have two terraces, one to the east and one to the west. Initially it was planned that the facades would be decorated with a painted motif. This embellishment project was not carried out. To this financially very constrained operation, we offered additional services, a luxury.
